Let me start by saying that I should know better than to start a Colleen Coble novel an hour before bedtime. I was up reading last night reading Tidewater Inn past my bedtime, past the end of the Red Sox/Yankees game on TV, until I finished. It was just too good to put down!
Libby Halladay has a passion for restoring historic architecture. When her restoration partner, Nicole, calls to say that Libby has inherited the Tidewater Inn on Hope Island, she also has more surprising news; Libby has two siblings. As Libby watches Nicole in the beach cam, hoping to see her newly-discovered sister, Nicole is kidnapped.
Libby rushes to Hope Island, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to search for her friend, meet her new family, and figure out what to do with her inheritance. There are complications and plot twists, and a guest appearance by Bree and Samson from the Rock Harbor series.
The characters are well-drawn and believable, from Libby’s family to the handsome but flawed Coast Guard officer. The suspense makes this yet another classic Colleen Coble story that I highly recommend – I would give it six stars if I could.
